I Prayed have prayed
Lord Jesus, thank You for being my Shepherd. My family and I have been through the wringer lately; we’ve been walking through the valley of the shadow of death. However, I thank You right now that You are with me—and that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Please work all these things out for my good, Lord. Thank You, and I give You all the praise.
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Intercessors, have you been walking through the valley of the shadow of death lately? Has the enemy been attacking you, your family, your health, or your finances? If so, I want to encourage you today with these three things:

  1. Your problems will not last forever.

It’s always difficult to walk through a dark valley, but God’s Word tells us that the valley always has an end. As it says in Psalm 23:4:

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4, emphasis mine).

No matter what you are going through right now, I pray today that you would be encouraged by the fact that you are truly going through.

You won’t be in this difficult place forever; there is an end in sight. This dark and difficult place is not your permanent home. Trouble is not your place of abiding; Jesus is!

Friend, there is hope for you in Jesus Christ right now. Your problems have a shelf life! Trouble does not endure forever, but the word of the Lord does endure forever (1 Peter 1:25).

  1. The trouble is only a shadow.

Amidst the troubles of day-to-day life, it’s easy to forget what is real and eternal. However, Jesus is the Real and the Eternal—and His Word promises in Psalm 91 that no evil can befall you, nor can any plague come near your dwelling.

Does the enemy threaten sometimes? Yes. Do bad things happen sometimes? Yes, because we live in a sinful, fallen world.

However, Psalm 91 and many other passages in the Bible remind us that God Himself is our Refuge and our Fortress, our very present Help in trouble. Additionally, we read in Romans 8:28 that God will work all things out for our good if we love Him and are called according to His purpose.

That’s just one of many reasons why we have to keep our eyes on JESUS, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

In Psalm 23, the Psalmist wrote that the valley is the valley of the “shadow” of death. It’s not the valley of death itself; there are only shadows—things that the enemy wants us to fear, but which cannot actually harm us. And if you are hidden with Christ in God, then no evil shadow can ever harm you.

Friend, I pray in this season that you would let God Himself fill you with His perfect love, which casts out fear. (Read my testimony here about how the Lord healed me from chronic fear—and how He will do the same for you.) Also, I pray that, by God’s perfect love, you would no longer be tormented by fear of the shadows as you are walking through this dark valley.

  1. JOY and REWARD are available to you, even now in this valley.

Psalm 23:5-6 says:

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

In this Psalm, the Lord prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies. Notice that it doesn’t say “in the presence of my friends.” That is how we often think joy will come, right? When everything is going great in our lives? However, that’s not always so, the Lord wants you to know that your enemies are a necessary part of your banquet.

Why are your enemies a necessary part of your banquet?

Your enemies are a necessary part of your banquet because God loves to flaunt His faithful ones to their adversaries. He teaches you, trains you, and raises you up in obscurity—but then, when the time is right, He unveils you and flaunts you to the world.

When God gets ready to flaunt you—His masterpiece—to the world, He makes your enemies sit down and watch while He blesses you. Then—if your ways please the Lord—He makes even your enemies to be at peace with you (Proverbs 16:7). This is His way, and this has always been His way.

Friend, the Bible doesn’t say that God waits to prepare the table before you until you’re OUT of the valley.

We tend to think that joy and reward are only available on the other side of the valley, but that’s not what the Scriptures say. Instead, the Scriptures say that goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life—including on those days when you’re walking through the valley.

The Bible also tells us that he who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He is the Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. This verse applies every day, even on the darkest days.

Beloved intercessor, if you’re walking through a dark valley right now, God is with you.

You are not alone. King Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, is with you right now. No man can snatch you out of His hand. He is God alone, and His Word is true. He is faithful, and He will always be faithful to you.

No matter what you’re going through, remember today that you’re truly going through. Your life is not over. Your hard season is not forever. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5b).

I am very thankful for your articles. They encourage me greatly because it is at the perfect time and moment I need to hear them in my inner man. I looked up the definition of shadow. Satan is the dark figure , ( the father of lies) that is always trying to block or distort the light ( Jesus, the wisdom of God and the truth). May God bless you abundantly in the name above all names Jesus our Lord and Saviour . I’m always thankful and so amazed at His faithfulness, forgiveness, steadfast Love, mercy and promises. Especially the He will never leave or forsake us.

The Lord is a good Shepherd and has taught me to sit at the table spread for me in the midst of my enemies. This is a very encouraging word to confirm going through! At times it seems there is no end to the suffering and change will never happen. But God! By the spirit of the Living God I know it is true! I will go through. Many times others have spoken into my life and they know nothing of what I deal with. I encourage others to feast at the table of the Lord! Feast and worship. Develop intimacy with Jesus and find strength in weakness. I do!

Hi, I don’t think I am an intercessor. I do pray for others but I don’t know if I am an intercessor. I am a believer and my family is undergoing much turmoil and satanic attack as of a couple of months ago, maybe longer. my 27 year old daughter Rina, is currently under severe satanic attack. I am not condoning what she did but I feel I should tell you . She is under attack. It seems like it started when a “friend” gave her this synthetic weed. She is suddenly paranoid, she is scared, she thinks “they” have hacked all of her online accounts and they have planted bugs in her phone, car, my phone, etc. I don’t know if it’s that, or another reason she is under attack. These are pure evil attacks by satan. She is not a believer. But last night for the first time in years she mentioned the word “praying”. She is in need of prayer for protection from satan. She was never ever like this before. I’m in prayer, as are friends and family, for Rina. She is 27. This has been a nightmare and it still is. I pray for complete healing. These lAst few months have been very difficult for us. I am a widow and our kids are 25 (Chris) and 27. Since this all began in August, I had my identity stolen, my daughter got sick, my son was attacked by satan with depression, I was in a car accident, and more.we have all been so broken down by evil. I know the Lord isn’t surprised by any of this, and we are surrounded by His greatness, love, provision, protection, mercy, and grace. Thank you for your encouragement. It came at the most perfect time. I hope your letter is written for me and people like me, even if we don’t know if we are intercessor. I am going to share this with my small group sisters and my family. Thank you and God bless you for knowing we have been going through. Love, carrie

Dear Heavenly Father, I ask for Your protection over Carrie, Rina and Chris. Your protection is all consuming, impenetrable, unyielding and will deliver this family from the the influence of all ungodliness. I praise Jesus Christ over Carrie and ask You to fill her with beautiful prayers. Your Word says the prayers of the righteous avail much. May Carrie’s prayers for her family break through the barriers keeping her children from salvation. I pray believing in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, Carrie’s savior. I pray her children’s as well and very soon. Amen

Thank you so much for this message. I have been in a valley for nearly three months. Satan has attacked my children and I have been parenting on my knees in tears. It is one storm after another. It has been nonstop. My oldest son is incarcerated for something he honestly did not do but just got mixed up with the wrong crowd. My oldest daughter is spiritually lost and doesn’t fully believe in Christ. She had to move back into my home and the other children are rebelling because of it. My 16 year old daughter is pregnant. And my 14 year old son is simple disrespectful and disobedient. I moved to a better neighborhood during the summer hoping that they would be more safe and in October, my whole world started falling apart.

I so appreciate this wonderful word of encouragement! And, yes I have been going through dark and painful days for a very long time…. continuous attacks on me and my household…mentally, physically, emotionally and financial. And, for the first time since I can remember, I wanted to 100% QUIT! – The attacks and pain became almost unbearable, so deep that I didn’t think I could or even wanted to go on (faith crisis). Thankfully, I didn’t stay in that place….what would be the purpose of quitting? I made a declaration that I was going to sit at the table and eat in the presence of my enemies! So, Thank you for confirming and encouraging the Goodness of God!!!!

I needed this reminder. I needed to be reminded God is for me and with me. He is my peace in the midst of the storm even the when storm seems to have no end. He is the Author and Finisher of Life and He is with me until the end of time. Where He is, there is victory – victory in the good and the bad!

Father, may The Word (Jesus) always be in our hearts and thoughts as we go through trials in life – He will always see us through – just keep the faith, keep our eyes on Jesus. We are the victors through God Almighty!

The continuing and (greatly) earnest comments have compelled me to return to this message. They are humbling. May God continue to bless us with courageous trust as we navigate through “uncharted waters.” The enemy is alive and active but Our God Reigns! May our prayers be set before the Lord like incense, our uplifted hands like the evening offering. And I pray those golden bowls in Heaven that we are filling will be tipped over each of us in this coming year. And as they are, may the Praise of Jesus Christ saturate this nation, just as in Heaven. I am praying the United States will once again, be a light unto the nations. God bless IFA and all involved in this beautiful platform for God’s Glory and the good of His people.

Dwight and Barbara, I have been praying for the Lord’s blessing over families. This prayer was an offshoot of the more personal one for my own for no division. We are not only separated by many physical miles but mindsets as well. The Lord put this verse on my heart when praying one morning “let no one split apart what God has joined together.” It blessed me as does every Word spoken to my heart and mind. I pray He will abundantly restore your years of division and bring peace and confidence to your hearts as you wait on Him.

JAMIE, I LOVE THIS:

(I love that our enemies are necessary to provide the audience for God to “flaunt” us to the world as trophies of His grace–“Look what I was able to make out of her!” “Look how the facets of his life reflect My power and glory!”)

Jamie, the Lord use you to bring us more encouragement like this!
Heb 10:23 NLT Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.
Heb 10:24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
Heb 10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.

Jamie , thank you so much for these words of encouragement. I am learning more and more to not be embarrassed about anticipating God’s provision in natural physical things here in this time. { and of course his provision in my spiritual mental and emotional healing in being obedient and disciplined as much as possible- in the place that I am on any given day – , which today is one of those days.. that being a good day }And also what is so glaringly obvious is the training and discipline that I-,and we, have been receiving-.. but especially me-.. in my mind( cause I can only focus on my training☺🙏) in being diligent to continually seek him more and more-, in prayer- but especially in the Word. I am so grateful for being in this new place of being immersed in the Word. Of course that immersion is different for everyone. And that is okay.. God makes us unique- , even in our obedience to be different members of the same body seeking him and being obedient in unison-..we are all unique having similarities and differences which make us glorious children of God. I guess I need to say that out loud and so I can be reminded that God is patient with me-, not wanting any to perish-,completing his work in me until the day we see him face to face.
Lord once again I am reminded that I am so grateful for this place to come and share my gratitude with other relievers,- who are members of what appears to me, to be a university of the Saints,-also combat headquarters of the Regiment of the Soldiers of the Lord.
I have become acquainted with so many people-,leaders,and other Christian Soldiers on this website. So Lord, I pray and ask as your Word says-, that when I humble myself and come to you and seek me that you will hear me,-and continue to guide me.. and that all of the brothers and sisters will continue to grow and we will be victorious as we Forge through these dark days..the darkest many of us have known…as I am learning what it really means to trudge through times of battle as our ancestors, our forefathers, and our founding Generations had before us-, in founding this great land.
I thank you for all these things, for praying and believing you will continue to have mercy on me and on all of us -, in Jesus Mighty name, Amen

Amen! We are going through! We are more than conquerors in this life! We are victorious because of what our great High Priest, JESUS THE CHRIST did for us a Calvary!
We walk by faith! Not by sight!
The devil is in trouble!!! He is under our feet! Keep him there intercessors!
We are staying on the wall! Not coming down! In JESUS name!

The “valley of the SHADOW” indeed! I remember Kenneth Copeland saying, “The shadow of a dog never bit anybody.”. How true! So, fear not!

All God’s blessings to you all today and in the new year!

I agree heartily with Jamie’s message and love every word…Psalm 23 and 91 are committed to my heart and mind.
Thank you Father for walking us through our problems. Thank You for the feast we know is being prepared out of Your overwhelming abundance. Thank You for Your beloved daughter Jamie Rohrbaugh. May her praise of You continue to be a beacon of light in this broken world. Thank You for leading me to Psalm 117 this morning, I let it out! Praise Yah! May everyone everywhere shine with praise to You! I love You Father. I love You Jesus. I love you Holy Spirit. Amen

Psalm 117
Glorious Praise
The Passion Translation
Let everyone everywhere shine with praise to Yahweh!
Let it all out! Go ahead and praise Him!
For He has conquered us with His great love,
and His kindness has melted our hearts.
His faithfulness lasts forever, and He will never fail you.
So go ahead, let it all out!
Praise Yah!
O Yah!

Father God, I thank you for your words of comfort and true joy. Thank you for the IFA ministry for giving us awareness of your love, strength and peace. We are thankful we can turn to you for that perfect love and we know you are with us. In Jesus name we pray.

I too, have been in constant prayer reciting Psalm 23, which is very easy to memorize, and, very comforting reciting and getting His confirmation of how He is moving in our lives.
Certainly also getting in the “secret place” in Psalm 91 has many gold nuggets for us all who read and carry out this important Psalm, as well.
I also find comfort in reciting 2 Corinthians 1:2-3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus (Yeshua) – Father of mercies, God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations, so that we can comfort those who are in a trouble, with comfort, with which we are comforted by God. Amein. Comforting in these troubling times, where God is testing us see Rev. 3:10)
Praise God as we are quickly coming into 2022! We keep our whole armour on (Eph. 6:12-17) daily as well as plead His pure shed blood to cleanse & cover us! HalleluYah!

I haven’t been able to master Spanish conversation but because the words of the Bible in English are so familiar to me, I find it a blessing to memorize passages like Psalm 23, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Magnificat in Spanish. For some reason, when I wake up into fear in the middle of the night, reciting the 23rd Psalm is more comforting to me in Spanish than in English. Often I barely get through “El Senor es mi pastor–” and I am peacefully asleep again!

Satan will do the best that he can to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came that we may have abundant life. Thank You, Lord, that satan was defeated by the first drop of blood that You shed on the cross. We have EVERYTHING we need in Jesus. Psalm 91 makes it so clear that we have all we need to be victorious in Him.

Holy Spirit has been taking me through Psalm 23 the last 2 months, giving me fresh revelation each day with it. My favorite one is , “He spreads a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
Father showed me, the table is spread before us fresh each day, in the presence of our enemies. He doesn’t just do it for us once. He does it every day.

Thank you Jamie! This article is so descriptive and very encouraging,. I sat smiling and lifting my hands as I read it through, because I can totally relate 100%…
The way you beautifully wove together Psalm 23 and Ps 91…clearly described the Strong, Loving and Protective Arm of Our Beloved Savior and Shepherd.
Many a ‘nights’ I found myself in this dark valley of the ‘shadow’ reciting those scriptures, and PRAISE GOD…He has ‘brought me through’ EVERY TIME!!! He’s faithful to His promises…Joy does come in the morning!!🙌
God Bless you Jamie for sharing ‘your gift’ of writing this encouraging word💕…May you be Blessed as you bless others
God Bless you and yours in the New Year

Thank you dear Jamie and IFA … for this living word, Glory to God!
Tonight, just prior to reading it , I had a VIVID Prophetic Dream! This dream confirmed that He is increasing His grace upon me by Mark 16:20 … where Jesus’ promised confirming Miraculous Healing signs following me
(and us ) as we proclaim the Gospel.
IMPORTANT-NOTE: For the first time I just gave as a Christmas gift of New Testaments to the adults and older children of my two dear families 🎶💕👆
PS
I used NewTestaments with the Gospel plan of salvation in the last two page . Lord GRACE all Followers of Jesus in America to ARISE in 2022 by Isaiah 60: 1-3 !!

This is just what I needed to hear as we spent Christmas Day in the ER rather than with my children and grandchildren. Not Covid but a shock of facial shingles for my husband after a little virus. He lost his job because of the vaccine mandate and stress from all directions flowed in. When will this end? This valley of shadows? Yet Jesus was born in the midst of a valley of shadows in the society of His time and He was there in the ER with us as He promised. Walking through it all in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, we will be blessed on the other side with a greater appreciation for what we have.
Lord, I pray for all whose lives have taken a seemingly wrong turn that they find Jesus was there walking beside them each step of the way. Amen.

Janet I was touched by your story. First I prayed for you and your husband. I pray that his shingles will dissipate and he will have no pain in Jesus name. Second that he will get a job better than the one he had before. I admire him him for standing up for his beliefs and for our freedoms.
Praising God that he was protected from Covid and praise you father for continuing to protect you both from Covid.

My cousin just lost his wife due to Covid. He got very sick also. Both refused to get vaccinated. I am a follower of Jesus Christ, I have an autoimmune disease. I prayed for guidance and wisdom. I got the vaccine. But I still have to be careful around those of you who won’t.

This was encouraging to me. We all go through trying times, and it shows our character as we go. Then we can allow our Father to prune us as we keep our eyes on Jesus. I have experienced the part where the Lord flaunts us to our enemies. As we keep a humbling attitude sometimes are enemies can be won over to Christ Jesus! Thank you for sharing this message.
